I am so incredibly happy you’re here.

If you’ve ever tried to paint a fireplace while negotiating with a toddler, or if your bedroom currently looks like a cross between a lumber yard and a hoarder house, you are in the right place.

This blog has been a dream of mine for some time now, and I wanted our very first post to be a sneak peak into all the things that we might get into.

Meet the Crew

Hi, I’m Miriam, a stay-at-home mom to three incredible girls, a former D1 head swim coach, and a total DIY addict. I’m married to a handsome handyman, Matt, who is the muscle behind all my DIY design ideas. Together, we are navigating the beautiful chaos of raising a family, all while slowly transforming our house into a home we love. Our house is rarely quiet, always full of paint supplies, and fueled by lots and lots of coffee.

Why “Renovating Motherhood”?

When I think of renovation, I think of tearing down old walls, finding the hidden potential, and building something beautiful from the ground up. It’s messy, it’s unpredictable, and it always takes longer than you think it will.

Honestly? Motherhood is exactly the same.

We are constantly tearing down our old expectations, remodeling our daily routines, and building a life that we love for our little ones. Whether you are literally “renovating” a house or just “renovating” your daily life, doing so while mothering is a humbling experience.

To me, “renovating motherhood” involves mindfully reclaiming your identity, adjusting expectations, and designing your life to prioritize joy, presence, and balance. It’s about letting go of the “perfect mom” myth and building a sustainable routine that aligns with your family’s actual needs.

What You’ll Find in the Toolbox

Think of this blog as your go-to digital toolbox. Here is a sneak peek at what we’ll be diving into:

  • Home Renovation & DIY Projects: Real-life, budget-friendly (sometimes learn as you go) projects you can actually accomplish (even with kids around). From accent walls to outdoor gardening fun, we’ll tackle them together.
  • Crafts & Kid Activities: Simple, fun ways to get creative with your little ones, or just a few sanity-saving craft ideas for a rainy afternoon.
  • The Reality of Motherhood: Honest stories, laughs, and the occasional reminder that it’s okay if your house is a construction zone—physically or emotionally.
  • A Very Special Passion Project: I am so excited to share updates, behind-the-scenes looks, and stories about the children’s book I wrote with my dad, Rae’s Lake Day! It’s a rhyming board book for little ones aged 1-5, inspired by our own family adventures at Smith Mountain Lake.

Grab a Hammer (or a Cup of Coffee) and Join Me!

Whether you are a DIY pro, a mom looking for a little creative inspiration, or someone who just loves a good “before and after” transformation, there is room for you at my table.

Thank you for joining me on this new adventure. Let’s get our hands a little dirty, make some memories, and build something beautiful together.
